CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A two-year-old has died after being hit by a car in Catawba County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Highway Patrol responded to Buffalo Shoals Road at Abernathy Willams Road around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

This incident happened in the 3800 block of Buffalo Shoals Road, about 5 miles east of Maiden and near the Olivers Crossroads community.
A 2001 Saturn passenger car was going south on Buffalo Shoals Road and hit the two-year-old who was in the roadway, officials said.
The toddler was airlifted to Charlotte where he later died of his injuries. The driver of the Saturn, a 54-year-old woman, was not injured.

The road was closed for about one hour during the on-scene investigation. Officials say no charges will be filed in this case against the driver.
Both the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and the NCSHP are investigating the incident.
