Creeks, rivers, streams across California’s Central Valley will rise during next rounds of rain

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for a portion of central California, including various areas such as Buttonwillow, Lost Hills, Caruthers, San Joaquin, Selma, Coalinga, Avenal, Fresno-Clovis, Visalia, Porterville, Reedley, and Yosemite Valley.

This alert is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Wednesday morning, signaling the potential for flooding caused by excessive rainfall.

Anticipating heavy rainfall, residents in these areas are advised to be vigilant as excessive runoff may lead to flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Poor drainage and urban areas are particularly susceptible to flooding, and storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris, exacerbating the risk.

The National Weather Service emphasizes the need for residents to monitor later forecasts and remain alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in flood-prone areas are strongly encouraged to be prepared to take action promptly if flooding develops. The potential for heavy rainfall heightens the risk, and residents are urged to stay informed about the latest developments by visiting http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood.
