Westford, MA – A devastating three-vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer resulted in the death of a 26-year-old Lawrence man on Thursday, February 15, at around 6 PM on Route 495 northbound near mile marker 84 in Westford. State Police-Concord Barracks patrols, responding to reports of the serious crash, discovered the wreckage upon arrival, with Westford Fire and EMS working to extricate the operator of a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, who was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation reveals a complex sequence of events leading to the fatal incident. A 2012 Volkswagen EOS, traveling in the right lane of Route 495 northbound, collided with the front right of a 2014 Freightliner tractor-trailer in the middle lane. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to veer off the roadway into the grassy median before re-entering the highway, where it struck and overrode the 2022 Toyota Tacoma, causing it to overturn.
The operators of the Volkswagen and the Freightliner did not sustain injuries in the accident. The State Police-Concord Barracks, assisted by the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, are conducting a thorough investigation into the crash’s precise cause.
