BATON ROUGE, La. – Las Cruces native and Centennial High School graduate Steven Milam shined in his collegiate debut in LSU’s 2-0 win over Central Arkansas at Alex Box Stadium on Saturday.
Milam, who started the game at second base, ripped a two-out RBI-single to right field in the bottom of the fourth inning to give LSU a 1-0 lead over Central Arkansas. That was Milam’s first career hit at the NCAA level.
That was Milam’s only hit of the day as the true freshman finished the day going 1-for-1 with an RBI and two walks in his debut.
“Steven is going to be a great player here; he’s a great player right now,” LSU baseball head coach Jay Johnson said. “He’s tough, he’s focused, and I couldn’t be happier to have him here.”
LSU is back in action on Sunday with a game against VMI at Alex Box Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. MT/1:00 p.m. CT. The game will stream on SEC Network+.
