1 dead, 2 seriously injured in Manatee County crash

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (SNNTV) — A Sarasota man is dead, and two others are seriously injured in a car crash in Manatee County on Friday afternoon.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that at 1:24 p.m., a woman was driving with a male and female passenger, heading east on State Road 70, approaching Robinson Road.

The driver drifted into the westbound travel lanes of SR-70, over-corrected, drove off the road, and entered the grassy shoulder on the south side of the road.

The car then struck three mailboxes and a tree, before it overturned several times and came to a final rest on the grassy shoulder.

The driver and her female passenger were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The man was pronounced deceased on-scene by Manatee EMS.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate this crash.
