A devastating traffic collision occurred today at the intersection of SR-79 and SR-76 in El Cajon, resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the incident at 2:41 PM Saturday, triggering an emergency response.
According to the CHP incident report, the collision involved two vehicles, a gray Honda, and a gray Ford truck.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were dispatched immediately, with subsequent updates revealing that individuals were trapped inside the vehicles.
Eye-witnesses also reported that the gray truck was traveling at a high speed prior to the collision. The CHP collaborated with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection to manage the aftermath.
As the situation developed, it was revealed that the collision had occurred northbound, just south of Beresford Lane. Additionally, Beresford Lane was identified as a dirt road, complicating the accessibility for emergency responders.
Despite prompt efforts from emergency services, the tragedy took a grim turn when it was confirmed that one individual involved in the collision had succumbed to their injuries.
