Two men arrested after an attempted hit-and-run in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – On Friday, two men were reportedly arrested after an attempted hit-and-run incident.

At about 5 p.m., Florida Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the crash on Interstate 10 near the 130-mile marker. The caller notified dispatch that a black Chevy Silverado with a Texas license plate sustained damages to the vehicle’s right side and quickly left the scene, deputies said.

Shortly after, the truck was observed traveling east and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver 27-year-old, Alexandro Velasquez of Plant City was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash and knowingly driving with a suspended license, according to FHP officals.

Authorities said one of the two passengers, 24-year-old Abraham Velasquez of Los Fresnos, Texas was found to have an active warrant in Cameron County, Texas for manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance. Investigators also discovered that Velasquez had warrants in Hillsborough County, Florida for trafficking in amphetamine of 200 grams or more, possession of drug paraphernalia, and giving a false name to law enforcement.
