Tornadoes & Waterspouts Possible Across South Florida and the Keys Today, Quiet & Sunny Northeast

Seasonably Cold Week & Weekend in NYC

02/18/24 8:51am ET

Good morning everyone. We’ll immediately cut away from the Northeast and NYC Metro Area to discuss heavy rain and strong to severe thunderstorms approaching Florida. We’ve been talking about this possibility for several days now, and our wave of low pressure is knocking on Florida’s door via the West Coast and Florida Keys.

Look for flooding rain, strong gusty winds, frequent lighting, and local marine hazards. We’re also looking for the prospect of embedded severe weather that may contain large hail and isolated tornadoes. The timeline on this is essentially now through late evening, so don’t let your guard down after our first wave this morning passes by. Check your local stations for the latest watches and warnings, and all boaters should remain at the docks today from central Florida on south.

Here is your local NYC Metro Forecast –

Expect sunshine today with seasonably cold conditions in the 35-40 range. It’ll also be a breezy one, making it feel much colder on any exposed skin.
