MILTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – Tiny houses, cabins and unusual getaways are becoming more popular. Now, there are some cozy escapes right along the Mahoning River.
Since opening the Mahoning River Lodge near Lake Milton two years ago, co-owners Maddie Miller and Nichole English say the reservations haven’t stopped.
Though they live in Portage County – English said they saw the appeal of the riverfront property when they bought it 5 years ago.
“You can just enjoy the lake. The lake attaches to the river so you can go down the river, too. And we just really like the Lake Milton area,” she said.
The Mahoning River Lodge features a cabin and a grain bin that is converted into a 1-bedroom getaway.
Miller describes it as “something different and unique, something you don’t see all the time.”
Both spots have access to the river and the lodge provides kayaks and lifejackets.
English said they get a lot of guests from out of town.
“We noticed a lot of our guests are from the Pennsylvania area. We’ve had several from Columbus and Dayton. But, a lot are from the Pennsylvania area,” she said.
