CBB Fans Share Consensus Opinion on No. 2 Purdue After Loss to Ohio State

It’s not March yet, but it’s starting to feel like it following Ohio State’s upset victory against No. 2 Purdue on Sunday.

The Boilermakers were the No. 1 overall seed in this week’s initial bracket preview, topping teams like UConn, Houston and Arizona. But that’s going to change in next week’s rankings.

Purdue (23-3, 12-3) fell to Ohio State (15-11, 5-10), which fired head coach Chris Holtmann earlier in the week, 73-69 on Sunday afternoon. Zach Edey has 22 points and 12 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to overcome 22 from OSU’s Bruce Thornton and 19 by Jamison Battle.

We should remind you that last season, Purdue was upset by 16-seed Farleigh Dickinson in the first round of March Madness. And following the Boilermakers’ loss to a struggling Buckeyes squad that just fired its head coach, college basketball fans are starting to feel like history repeat itself in this year’s men’s basketball tournament.

In other words, fans are already eyeing Purdue as an upset candidate in this year’s edition of March Madness.
