MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is in custody after running through the attic walls of an apartment complex and falling through the ceiling while attempting to escape police.
The Memphis Police Department responded to a domestic call at the Circle K located at 585 South Highland Street just after 2 a.m. Saturday.
According to an affidavit, suspect Denzel Jefferson got into an argument with a woman, which turned physical, at her apartment just down the road from the Circle K.

Reports say he used a metal security bar to strangle the woman, but she never lost consciousness. He also smashed the woman’s phone with the metal bar.
The woman was reportedly able to escape the residence and call the police, but when police arrived at the apartment, they found that Jefferson had locked himself inside.
Police say Jefferson called 911 and told the dispatcher that he had gone to 201 Poplar to turn himself in. Officers were aware that Jefferson was still in the apartment, so they stayed on the scene.
