Spokane Valley group dedicates weekly meal for those in need to former member

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A Spokane Valley group that comes together every Sunday to feed the vulnerable in the community had a special day on Sunday, celebrating the life of a former member through candy.

Neighbors Feeding Neighbors started in 2020. Each week, volunteers make over 400 bag lunches for those in need. The group also comes together every holiday to provide members of the community with a warm meal.

Even though Sunday was not a holiday, organizers say they are celebrating and dedicating Sunday’s service to a late member.

“Her name was Celia Misner, [who] passed away in November,” Larry Barringer, co-founder of Neighbors Feeding Neighbors, said. “She was the founder of Change Ministries in Spokane Valley, and we’re making this lunch in her honor because through her husband, Bill, they bought $100 worth of candy that we’re giving each member that we take food [to].”

Barringer also said volunteers are also welcome. Barringer’s motto is “Give me two hours and it will change your life.”
