Cascade hands Cowgirls nonleague loss

The Crook County Cowgirls came out slow on Saturday against Cascade and never recovered, falling 62-47 to the Cougars in a nonleague game played at Crook County Middle School.

“I think Cascade is the best team we’ve played all year,” Crook County head coach Bob Boback said. “I thought they outplayed us. We just weren’t up to the task, they were better than us today, but I would like to play them again. I think it would be fun.”

The Cowgirls were playing from behind the entire contest as the Cougars rolled out to an 11-1 lead to start the game. Crook County tried to battle back, and got to within four points late in the first quarter, before Cascade went on another little run to lead 19-11 at the end of one quarter.

The Cougars ran their lead to 32-13 midway through the second quarter, but once again, the Cowgirls fought their way back. Crook County trailed 34-23 at the half, and got to within 10 points multiple times in the third quarter. However in the end, Cascade was the stronger team, controlling the boards, forcing Crook County into uncharacteristic turnovers, and controlling the tempo of the game.
