Indiana has joined the growing list of states supporting Texas in its border crisis management. Governor Eric Holcomb announced the deployment of 50 National Guard troops to aid in the ongoing border security mission.
The decision comes as Texas receives backing from other states like Georgia and Montana. Governor Holcomb emphasized the importance of addressing federal shortcomings in enforcing immigration laws and securing the border. He highlighted the impact of these issues on national and economic security, including Indiana.
Indiana’s commitment to sending troops is also driven by the state’s efforts to combat the drug epidemic. Governor Holcomb pointed out the risks posed by the continuous flow of illegal drugs across the border, emphasizing the need to curb illegal immigration to protect Hoosier lives.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott welcomed the additional support, noting the expansion of efforts to deny illegal entry into Texas. The state is doubling its efforts with more National Guard troops and razor wire barriers to address the decrease in illegal immigration in Texas compared to other states.
