Local rescue shelter speaking out against ‘Puppy Mill Bill’

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – An Evansville rescue shelter is speaking out against House Bill 1412.

It Takes a Village No-Kill wants people to contact their state senator and urge them to vote no.

Officials state if the bill passes and becomes law, puppy-selling pet stores will be able to open in any Hoosier community and businesses will continue as usual, with the stores continuing to source from puppy mills.

“All 21 humane pet store ordinances that have passed across the state will become void and no new ordinances will be able to be implemented,” officials state. “This legislation creates an undue burden on local law enforcement agencies, animal shelters and rescues that are already overwhelmed and bursting at the seams.”
