CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – A photographer in Charlottesville is honoring the legacy of formerly enslaved people with her latest display at Unity Church. The Then and Now collection by Cindy Stegmeier combines old pictures of the formerly enslaved with a modern African American woman to show respect an honor those who came before her.
