Tamayo Perry, a former professional surfer famed for riding through the massive Pipeline waves, tragically died in a shark attack while surfing on Oahu’s North Shore. The incident occurred near Goat Island and was reported by Shayne Enright of the Honolulu Emergency Services Department.

Tamayo Perry was a celebrity figure in the surfing community at the age of 49. Along with his wife, Emilia Perry, he had entered Oahu’s shore to offer surfing lessons. Perry’s career highlights include winning the Pipeline Master trials in 1999. The Pipeline, known for its dangerous waves, became Perry’s specialty.
