JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – A Tennessee toddler was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in south Jefferson County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report, the crash happened at 4:40 a.m. on northbound Interstate 55 at mile marker 168.4.
The highway patrol claims a 2024 Kia Forte struck an object or vehicle in the road before traveling off the roadway and striking a tree.

Four people were in the Forte: a 32-year-old man, a 23-year-old woman, and two boys, ages 1 and 3. All resided in Memphis, Tennessee, according to the highway patrol.
The 3-year-old was declared dead at the scene just before 5:30 a.m.
Everyone else in the vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to local hospitals. The passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The 32-year-old was not wearing his seatbelt.
