NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 47-year-old man is accused of stabbing a woman multiple times with a machete in South Nashville early Thursday morning.
Officers were called to the 700 block of Thompson Place around 1 a.m.

According to court documents, Thomas McDowell and the victim were staying in a tent when they got into an argument and McDowell hit the woman in the face with a machete.
McDowell then walked to a nearby business where he reportedly told a witness, “I killed her.”
The witness took the machete from McDowell and went to check on the victim in the tent, where she was found unresponsive with a large cut from the top of her head to her chin, according to Metro police.

McDowell returned to the tent and punched the victim in the face, spit on her and threatened to get a gun and kill everyone in the camp, according to an arrest warrant.
The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
