LAFAYETTE, La. ( KLFY ) – Acadian Ambulance said Thursday a hacker group was able to gain access to protected health information of their customers earlier this year.
“Upon further investigation, it appears that these threat actors were able to gain access to a secure server containing protected health information,” Acadian Ambulance wrote in a statement. Acadiana Ambulance said it will contact people impacted by the cyberattack.
The group claims it stole personal information of potentially millions of patients in the ransomware attack on Acadiana Ambulance. The group said the data includes Social Security Numbers, names, dates of birth, medical record numbers and medical and treatment information.
The company said they hired an outside specialist to investigate the security incident.
