JEANERETTE, La. ( KLFY ) — The Lafayette Police officer killed in Thursday’s hostage standoff in Jeanerette will be remembered with a candlelight vigil tonight.
The gathering for Cpl. Segus R. Jolivette will take place tonight at 7 p.m. at Jeanerette City Hall at 1010 Main St. in Jeanerette.
Jolivette was killed after a standoff Thursday that began when officials attempted to serve an arrest warrant to 31-year-old Nyjal Hurst, who was inside of a home located in the 2500 Block of Martin Luther King Drive.
During the standoff, the suspect fired multiple shots at officers; two officers, including Jolivette, were shot and bullet fragments hit the other two officers, according to the Lafayette Police Department.
