( KRON ) — An air quality advisory has been issued for the Bay Area for Wednesday due to smoke from a wildfire east of Modesto. The fire, dubbed the Pedro Fire , had burned 600 acres as of Tuesday evening.
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District warned that air quality is expected to be “moderate” on Wednesday. Skies may be hazy and people at high elevations may smell smoke.

BAAQMD recommends people stay inside and close windows and doors while smoke is present. Setting air conditioning units and car vent systems to recirculate can also reduce smoke exposure.
“Wildfire smoke contains fine particulate matter and other harmful pollutants. Exposure to wildfire smoke is unhealthy, even for short periods of time,” BAAQMD said.
The Pedro Fire is located in the community of Lake Don Pedro at the border of Mariposa and Tuolumne counties. Local authorities issued evacuation orders for the area.
