Cold cases added to ‘San Jose’s Most Wanted’ list

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — San Jose now has its own “Most Wanted” list of suspected killers who evaded justice. The San Jose Police Department recently launched the list with mugshots on Facebook and on Instagram in an effort to nab fugitives.

“San Jose’s Most Wanted” asks for the public’s help to provide tips on suspected killers’ whereabouts and “assist the Homicide Unit in apprehending dangerous wanted criminals,” SJPD wrote.

This week, police added unsolved cold cases — in which the suspect’s identity remains a mystery — to the list.

As of Thursday morning, there were seven suspects on SJPD’s “San Jose’s Most Wanted” list:

Yuqi Yan – Accused of killing her baby

On April 4, 2023, a local hospital alerted SJPD Officers about a suspicious death of a two-month-old baby. The boy died as a result of “chronic abuse at the hands of his mother, Yuqi Yan,” the police department wrote.

Detectives obtained a murder warrant for her arrest, but the mother fled before she could be taken into custody. “Yan has since fled the country and is believed to be in mainland China,” the police department wrote.
