Union City movie theater shooters identified as two Oakland residents: police

( KRON ) — Two East Bay residents have been identified as the suspects responsible for the recent shooting and attempted murder of a 19-year-old at a Union City movie theater on June 26.

Union City Police Department investigators said Ernest Dotson, 38, and Laquita Nasha Shink, 39, have both been booked into Santa Rita Jail and have been charged with attempted murder and conspiracy.

Both Dotson and Shink are Oakland natives. Police said Dotson had prior arrests for possessing a firearm and assault with a deadly weapon, and Shink had prior arrests for burglary and drug offenses.

On June 26, police received a call of a disturbance just before 1 a.m. at Century 25 Theaters at 32100 Union Landing Blvd. Responding officers were told an altercation led to several gunshots being fired at the theater.

While officers were clearing the theater, they located a 19-year-old who had been shot. The teenager was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries and survived. Police said there were no additional injuries.
