Forecast: Hot weekend, then a nice change

For most, we have a dry weekend ahead and a nice break from storms and heavy rain and severe weather. Highs will be in the low 90s.

We do have storm chances in the north both Saturday night into Sunday morning and Sunday night into Monday morning. It’s possible that a couple of these storms make it down to I-80.

As you can see in the following two images, the severe risk for the upcoming series of days in Iowa is very low. Good news for those still cleaning up.

As for temperatures, a cool change is ahead. Highs will be in the 90s with heat indices approaching 100 Sunday and Monday. Then a cold front drops across Iowa late Monday and brings much more comfortable air into the state just in time for the fair, which falls on the 8th through the 18th. The 6-to-10 and 8-to-14-day outlooks paint a comfortable temperature picture for that timeframe.
