The closures of these hospitals, part of Steward’s ongoing bankruptcy proceedings, were approved by a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge on Wednesday. The hospitals are scheduled to close on August 31, with layoffs effective September 24.

Steward Health Care stated that it decided to close these facilities due to the inability to find qualified buyers. Despite these closures, the company is continuing its efforts to find buyers for its remaining Massachusetts hospitals.

This development represents a significant loss for the communities served by these hospitals and raises concerns about the future availability of local healthcare services.
