NWS Issues Hazardous Weather Outlook
Norman, OK – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Norman, Oklahoma, has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of northern, western, central, and southern Oklahoma, as well as western north Texas. The outlook highlights potential thunderstorms tonight and a return of dangerous heat next week.
Thunderstorm Potential Tonight
There is a low chance of thunderstorms across far western Oklahoma and adjacent areas of western north Texas after midnight and towards dawn on Saturday. Residents in these areas should stay aware of changing weather conditions and be prepared for possible storm activity.
Weekend and Early Next Week Forecast
- Saturday through Sunday: Scattered thunderstorms are possible on Saturday afternoon and into early Sunday morning, particularly in far western Oklahoma and north Texas. Some of these storms could produce strong to severe wind gusts before sunset on Saturday.
- Early Next Week: A return of widespread triple-digit temperatures and dangerous heat indices is expected. This extreme heat could pose significant health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations.
