WSU Tech participates in ‘Metallica Scholars Initiative’ for 6th year

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — For the sixth year, the Wichita State University Campus of Applied Sciences and Technology is participating in the Metallica Scholars Initiative.

The Initiative is a partnership between the rock band Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation and the American Association of Community Colleges . WSU Tech says since the program began, it has helped over 100 individuals receive education in a variety of high-demand technical fields.

The grant this year will specifically support students seeking a degree in veterinary nursing, a career in high need, according to the state. The program begins this month.

“Being part of the Metallica Scholars initiative underscores our commitment to providing top-tier career and technical education,” said Dr. Sheree Utash, president of WSU Tech, in a news release. “This program is transformative for our students, offering them the skills and opportunities to succeed in high-demand fields. We are thrilled to continue our partnership with All Within My Hands and the AACC to make a significant impact in the lives of our students and the workforce of Kansas.”
