Oregon still far from Gov. Kotek’s 36,000 new homes a year

Housing permits across Oregon stood at about 17,700 last year, on par with recent years – but far short of Gov. Tina Kotek’s annual homebuilding goal. Local governments in Oregon issued just over 7,300 housing permits through June of this year, according to preliminary numbers from a federal database, a pace that doesn’t appear on track to meet Kotek’s annual target of 36,000 new units.
