At about 4:10 p.m., SJFD said the fire was knocked down. Officials said the home involved in the fire was deemed “a total loss.”

SJFD said the adjacent home also suffered damage to the backyard, shed, and fence, but the house itself did not sustain any damage.

Firefighters said a juvenile was injured due to the fire. They were since taken to the hospital for treatment of their burn injuries, SJFD said.

SJFD said the fire damaged PG&E power poles around the area. They estimate 22 residences are affected and anticipate residents gaining power “overnight into the morning.”

“VTA busses are on scene providing affected and displaced residents a cool place to stay,” San Jose firefighters said.
