Where you can find sandbags ahead of impacts from Tropical Storm Debby

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Municipalities across the Lowcountry will offer sandbags to residents and businesses to help them prepare for any potential impacts from Tropical Storm Debby .

The storm, expected to be a hurricane when it strikes Florida’s west coast, is forecast to reemerge in the Atlantic off the Georgia and South Carolina coast early in the week as a tropical storm.

Forecasters say Debby may stall off the coast. The storm will likely dump heavy rain for an extended period, causing coastal and inland flooding through the week.

Residents can find sandbag supplies where they live to help prevent damage associated with flooding and rising water during the storm.

Sandbags should be filled half full. Fold the top down and rest the bag on the flap. Stack your bags so that each layer is staggered or overlaps the previous level. You may also consider placing plastic sheeting down before adding sandbags to further prevent water seepage.
