Gov. Inslee issues emergency proclamation for Washington wildfires, fuel shortage

WASHINGTON – Governor Jay Inslee issued a statewide proclamation Friday due to several large wildfires burning in Washington.

The governor said due to the large response by fire officials in an effort to get the wildfires contained and put out, the fuel supply has been affected.

Governor Inslee has issued a statewide emergency due to the fuel shortage. With this declaration, the statutory limitations on vehicle driver hours for delivery of fuel supplies has been suspended until August 16.

The State of Washington is also experiencing abnormally dry weather conditions and triple-digit heat for long periods of time, which brings a higher risk of fire conditions throughout the region.

With the emergency declaration, members of active state service and the National and State Guard are called into active service to address the firefighting efforts and the fuel shortage.
