Bessemer man killed in Tuscaloosa County crash, Alabama troopers say

A 57-year-old Bessemer man died Thursday afternoon after a single-vehicle crash in Tuscaloosa County.

Wayne A. Chastine was killed around 2:21 p.m. when his 2016 Toyota Corolla left the road, struck a tree and overturned, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Chastine was pronounced dead at the of the crash on Alabama Highway 216, about five miles east of Brookwood. Troopers said Chastine was not wearing a seat belt.

A passenger in Chastine’s vehicle, 64-year-old Charles D. Woods of Tuscaloosa, was injured and taken to DCH Regional Medical Center.

No further information was disclosed. Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
