RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A man is dead and two others are hurt after separate acts of gun violence spread across central Virginia this weekend.
According to the Richmond Police Department, a person was shot in the area of N. 20th and E. Grace Streets at about 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2. When officers arrived they found a man that had been shot and who died at the scene.
Richmond resident Madison Guthrie said she was only a few feet from a shooting outside her apartment Friday night.
“I kind of had a feeling, an eerie feeling kind of came over me when I was falling asleep and I wasn’t sure why,” Guthrie said. “I’m a dog boarder — and I sit a lot of dogs and I have them in my home — and this isn’t a very good feeling or safe experience to walk my dogs at night. I’m not I’m not feeling like I can even do that now.”
Less than 48 hours later, two more shootings occurred on Sunday, Aug. 4.
According to the Henrico County Police Division, a man was shot in the stomach near the intersection of Virginia Center Parkway and Wylie Lane at around 2:30 a.m. The Victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries considered to be life-threatening.
