Blood drive, history in your backyard, jazz at the library among events around Petersburg

Tuesday: Petersburg Blood Drive

Want to help save lives and get $20 in the process? There will be a blood drive in Petersburg this Tuesday, August 6 from 1-6 p.m. Just one pint of blood alone can save three lives.

The drive will take place in the Betty Lanier Banquet Room of the Community Life Center at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, located at 444 Halifax Street. All who come to give blood will get a $20 Amazon Gift Card by email. Visit rcblood.org/Help for details.

Wednesday: Find the ‘History in your backyard’

The Historic Hopewell Foundation, a non-profit historical organization in the city that aims to support Hopewell’s historic properties, regularly hosts free history lectures every Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post 146, located at 217 East City Point Road. The last lecture will take place on Wednesday, August 28.
