Meet Salem-Keizer’s new administrators, principals, assistant principals

Eighteen Salem-Keizer schools will have new leadership when classes resume after Labor Day.

Two middle schools and 11 elementary schools will have new principals. And five educators have been named to new assistant principal roles.

Superintendent Andrea Castañeda also has named four new district administrators.

Salem-Keizer Public Schools is the state’s second-largest school district, operating 65 schools. It will serve a projected 37,204 students this year, down from 37,825 last year.

Here are the district’s newest leaders:

New Salem-Keizer Public Schools administrators

Danielle Neves is the district’s deputy superintendent overseeing secondary education. Neves previously worked for Tulsa Public Schools , where Castañeda worked for six years before being named Salem-Keizer’s superintendent in 2023.

Jonathan McIlroy is the district’s executive director of strategy and analytics. McIlroy also previously worked for Tulsa Public Schools.

Tom Charboneau will be the district’s principal on special assignment for multitiered systems of support and curriculum. Charboneau previously was principal at Scott Elementary School.
