Foley mayor, wife recognize teachers’ importance at Baldwin Public Schools event

FOLEY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Baldwin County educators were recognized for their work at an annual employee kickoff event.

During the Teacher Institute event , which kicked off the 2024-25 school year for Baldwin County Public Schools teachers, Mayor Ralph Hellmich and his wife, retired teacher Jo Hellmich, recognized the importance of teachers in the community.

“I want to thank all of you for what you do,” Hellmich said. “It is so important to have such a good system. Here in Foley, we are one of the best, if not the best, partners to the Baldwin County Board of Education and all its teachers. We want to be a good partner, and we’re going to continue to be a good partner.”

Hellmich continued, noting that “teachers touch many lives and have a lifelong influence on the future.”

Along with the recognition of the important work educators do and their impact on students and the community, the event served as an opportunity to motivate teachers to be the very best ahead of welcoming students into the classrooms on Aug. 8.
