How much rain did Hurricane Debby bring to Sarasota and Manatee counties?

That depends on where you were, who’s measuring and over what period.

The National Weather Service office in Ruskin said in an email table report Monday evening that Sarasota and Manatee counties had the two highest totals in a 14-county region, 16.56 inches in Lakewood Ranch, and 16.23 in Sarasota County, according to three-day observations.

Christianne Pearce, a forecaster with the National Weather Service, said earlier on Monday that overall, the Sarasota-Manatee area received between 10 and 15 inches of rain.

National Weather Service WS Ruskin forecaster Stephen Shiveley later added that as of 8:30 a.m. Monday, Siesta Key reported 12.5 inches of rain, while 6.75 inches of rain was reported in Venice.

Car Erickson, a forecaster with College Park, Pennsylvania-based AccuWeather noted that significantly higher rainfall was reported through other weather networks in downtown Sarasota – 19.16 inches in Paver Park, 19.25 inches in Laurel Park and 19.87 inches in Towles Court.
