A fundraiser has been set up to help the family of the 27-year-old Wichita firefighter who died Thursday while fighting a house fire.
The fundraiser was set up by Salem United Methodist Church in Newton, where Ty Voth attended as a child.
“We cannot begin to imagine the loss,” the GoFundMe says. “While we can’t ease their pain, we would like to show their family the sympathy and love of the community.”
As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, the fundraiser had $1,530 of the $6,500 goal.
Voth, a five-year veteran of the Wichita Fire Department, collapsed suddenly while fighting a house fire in Haysville. The cause of his his death is pending an autopsy, which could take several weeks .
The fire was ruled accidental.

Voth’s funeral is set for Friday at the Park City Arena , formerly known as the Hartman Arena. The public viewing is 9 a.m.; the funeral starts at 10 a.m.
