Report: Nearly 60% of New Mexico college students facing food insecurity

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A new report shows nearly 60% of New Mexico college students struggle with food insecurity. The University of New Mexico released its latest Student Basic Needs Report examining whether students have access to enough nutritious food and places to live.

While 58% were food insecure, the report found 39% had very low food security meaning their eating patterns were disrupted because of a lack of money.

The report found 62% of students struggled with housing security with 14% of them being homeless in the past year. To read UNM’s report, click this link .
