Dump drop off: City of Bakersfield to host bulky waste item drop off this weekend

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The city of Bakersfield is set to host a large item dump drop off Saturday in south Bakersfield.

City officials say the one-day pop-up drop-off event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon at the Bakersfield Municipal Airport on Aug. 10.

At the event, Bakersfield city residents can drop off unwanted large items, such as furniture, mattresses, box springs, major appliances, water heaters and BBQ grills without propane tanks.

City officials say propane tanks, items with refrigerant, items weighing more than 300 pounds and liquid and hazardous waste will not be accepted.

During past events, more than 107,000 pounds of trash, 89 tires and 305 mattresses have been collected.
