5.2-magnitude earthquake near Bakersfield rattles Central Coast. Did you feel it?

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake rattled the Bakersfield area late Tuesday, with some as far away as San Luis Obispo County even reporting feeling the shaking.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey , the earthquake occurred roughly 14 miles from Lamont in Kern County at 9:09 p.m.

The quake could be felt throughout Central California and further toward the coast, including several reports in San Luis Obispo County, according to the USGS.

Just after 9:30 p.m., the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services said in a post on X it and local emergency responders were “actively monitoring impacts” from the quake.

A cluster of other smaller quakes were also reported in the same area, according to the USGS.
