Male shot ‘multiple times’ in the back on Columbus’ East Side identified by coroner

The Franklin County Coroner has identified a man who died after being shot multiple times Tuesday evening on Columbus’ East Side.

Rodreques Turner, 22, died in the shooting that happened about 7:50 p.m. in the 1200 block of South Hamilton Road. Police responded to a report of a man who was shot several times in the back, a Columbus police 911 dispatcher confirmed Tuesday night.

Responding officers found Turner suffering from gunshot wounds, the dispatcher said.

Columbus fire medics took Turner to Mount Carmel East Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:19 p.m.

Police made no arrests in the shooting as of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Columbus police homicide detectives and crime scene technicians closed a portion of South Hamilton Road between East Mound Street and Melroy Avenue during the initial investigation.
