Tracking Debby: Storm surge to move inland across the Carolinas

CHARLOTTE ( PINPOINT WEATHER ) — Debby’s impact will be felt more and more as we head into the second half of the work week.

Wednesday starts cloudy and warm as temperatures have settled into the low and mid-70s near uptown. Winds will be breezy Wednesday mainly flowing out of the northeast between 10 and 15 miles per hour. Wind gusts can reach as fast as 25 miles per hour as Debby tracks north toward the South Carolina coast.

INTERACTIVE RADAR: Track heavy rain, storms as they roll into the Charlotte area

Rain will be intermittent and scattered Wednesday with most of the showers focused south and east of Uptown. We still can’t rule out a stray pocket of rain making it further north towards the I-40 corridor and higher elevations.

Highs will peak in the mid-80s Wednesday under mostly cloudy skies as showers and rain chances increase later. As Debby looks to make a second landfall between Charleston and Myrtle Beach overnight, heavier rain will move into the Queen City.

We can expect lows to dip into the low 70s before the 80s lock in for Thursday. Rain will pick up in intensity throughout the day as Debby tracks north through our area. The center of rotation will likely push north towards Virginia making for a very windy second half to the work week.
