Sonoma Co.: Two Alaskans Busted By Deputies On Suspicion Of Drug, Firearm Felonies

Bay City News

Deputies in Sonoma County arrested two people from Alaska who were allegedly found in Petaluma with drugs for sale and weapons, the Sheriff’s office said Tuesday.

A Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office deputy was driving to an alarm call in Petaluma late Sunday night when he saw a pickup truck with a towing trailer parked against traffic with its hazard lights flashing. The driver of the pickup was slumped over the wheel and wasn’t moving.

The deputy parked and walked up to the pickup to wake up the driver. When deputies saw the driver start to reach for something near the center console, they removed both the driver and passenger from the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

A deputy allegedly saw a bag of a white crystalline substance between the driver’s feet. A search around the driver’s seat yielded a loaded .45 caliber pistol, ammunition, a loaded magazine, a large fixed-blade knife, about 500 suspected fentanyl pills, multiple baggies of suspected fentanyl powder and a baggie of suspected methamphetamine, the sheriff’s office alleges.
