CARTA resumes service as Debby churns off SC coast, but says riders should expect some delays

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – CARTA service resumed Wednesday afternoon as Tropical Storm Debby churns northeast along the South Carolina coast.

The transportation provider suspended service on Tuesday as weather conditions deteriorated and roads flooded amid heavy rainfall.

Routes – except for Route 203 – returned to normal at noon; however, CARTA said services could be paused if conditions become unsafe.

“Riders should also expect some service delays as we ramp back up to full service and some detours as several roads remain impassable,” the transportation provider said.

CARTA said it hopes to resume all routes to a full schedule as quickly as possible.
