Washington State Patrol ramps up patrols for WSU Cougars’ return to school

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State Patrol is preparing for Cougars to come back to school with emphasis patrols starting Friday.

The emphasis patrols will run through August 18.

Troopers will focus on speeding, distracted driving, and other crash-causing violations during this time.

WSP said District 4 has seen 10 fatal crashes so far this year compared to 26 the year before.

During this time, there will be zero tolerance for impaired driving.

Drivers heading to and from WSU will see an increased presence along Highway 26, Highway 195 and Interstate 90.
