No explosives were found during the investigation of a bomb threat at the South Transit Center in Fort Collins on Tuesday.
Police say a man got off a Transfort bus at the South Transit Center near the intersection of Harmony Road and College Avenue just before noon Tuesday , placed three bags on the platform and told a nearby security guard that one of the bags contained a bomb.
Law enforcement was notified and the Northern Colorado Bomb Squad responded. Investigators did not discover any explosives, according to a news release.
The investigation lasted about six hours. During that time, staff at the transit center paused operations and the railroad and pathways around the transit center, including the entrance at Fossil Boulevard, were closed as a precaution, according to the news release. A commercial building near the transit center and a construction site directly adjacent to the transit center were asked to evacuate while the bomb squad investigated, the release said, and a train was stopped on the tracks near Prospect Road but there were no railroad crossing closures.
