2028 Olympics adding new events: Here’s 5 so-Oklahoma events we want to see as Olympic sports

The International Olympic Committee have already picked five sports that will be added to the 2028 games in Los Angeles. One of those sports, softball, will be played here at Oklahoma City’s Devon Park .

But what if Oklahomans had a chance to add one more sport to the list of events? Oklahoma culture could make the Olympic Games a lot more… interesting.

Here’s a look at five quintessentially Oklahoman activities we think might make great Olympic sports:

Noodling

The weird, wild and unabashedly Oklahoman sport of noodling , where anglers reach bare-handed into murky shallows to pull out massive catfish, is already an international phenomenon.

At the very least, it’s appreciated internationally.

At this year’s Okie Noodling Tournament in Pauls Valley, a pair of Japanese adventurers made the trek to Oklahoma in the hopes of capturing the underwater beasts.

Stickball

The game of stickball has been played by indigenous peoples for centuries. In fact, it’s a predecessor to a modern Olympic sport: lacrosse.
