Of the more than 60 athletes from Georgia competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics, nine have earned medals. Among them, Vincent Hancock, Gabby Thomas and Nick Fink have claimed gold in their respective sports. One of the athletes, Here’s a closer look at the medalists with ties to Georgia:

**Gold**

*Gabby Thomas*: Thomas, an Atlanta native, won gold in the women’s 200-meter race with a time of 22.83 seconds. She is the first American woman to win the 200 meters at the Olympic Games since Allyson Felix in 2012 and the third athlete from the Atlanta metro area to capture gold in this event. This marks Thomas’ first gold medal, adding to the bronze and silver medals she earned at the Tokyo Olympics.

*Vincent Hancock*: Hancock took home a gold and a silver medal at this year’s Olympic Games. He won gold in men’s skeet shooting and silver in the mixed skeet event. Hancock, from Eatonton, is no stranger to gold medals, having previously earned them at the 2008, 2012, and 2020 Olympic Games. He has already announced his plans to return in 2028.
